The Llangollen Railwayhttp://www.llangollen-railway.co.uk Part of the Ruabon to Barmouth line, our Railway closed to passenger traffic in 1965, and to goods in 1968. The track and signalling was removed the following month, and for seven years the buildings and trackbed were left at the mercy of nature. The Welsh Highland Railway Projecthttp://www.bangor.ac.uk/ml/whr/ This is where you can find out all about the project led by the Ffestiniog Railway to rebuild and operate the Welsh Highland Railway, a neighbouring line running through the mountains of Wales which closed in the 1930s. The first three-mile section of the new line from Caernarfon opened in October 1997 and approval has now been granted to rebuild the whole line.
