Hendre Waelodhttp://www.walesdirectory.co.uk/his/bury/waelod.htm Hendre Waelod is the only one of the Conwy valley portal dolmens with the traditional high portal stones-in this case, originally 3m high and probably covered by a separate lintel, now lost. The chamber behind is large but rather low, covered by an enormous capstone which has slipped to the north. Access from the portal is blocked but it is possible to squeeze inside from the other elevation.CATEGORIES: Historical Sites LOCATIONS: Glan Conwy
The Bala Information Pageshttp://www.bala.co.uk Little more than a single main street, Bala is a popular stop-off for travellers on their way from north-west England to the Cambrian coast. The town's great attraction is Bala Lake (“Llyn Tegid” in Welsh). This is the largest natural body of water in Wales, much used by watersports enthusiasts who benefit from the winds sweeping through the mountain valley in which it is set. The steam trains of the narrow-gauge Bala Lake Railway run for several kilometres along its southern shore.CATEGORIES: Local History , Tourist Guides & Information LOCATIONS: Bala
